The Education and Training area at the Spanish Technological Platform for Innovative Medicines, co-ordinated by Mabel Loza (Universidad de Santiago de Compostela) and Antonio Luque (AstraZeneca), has organised the 1st Workshop on training in Research and Development for medicines in Spain, which took place on 6 June at the Centre for Advanced Studies at the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela.

This meeting was attended by all of the public and private entities involved in education and training in R&D for new medicines. The workshop was divided into two sessions: the morning session covered the current situation of teaching in R&D for medicines in Spain, with the most significant gaps; the afternoon session included a workshop in response to the questions posed during the morning session and ended with the conclusions reached.

Following the proposals on activities and actions from the conference, an inventory of the offer of R&D training in Spain was done through direct search and communications to all the registered agents in the Training comitee of the Innovative Medicines Platform.
